Elsweig Showcase Round 2
So went to the auditions for Round 2 of the New Talent Showcase on Friday, November 5. Went pretty well. Did a dramatic monologue from "American Beauty" and rocked it pretty solidly. Afterward, Gregory Sobeck, the director of the showcase, complimented me on the performance and then asked if I had a more comedic monologue. I told him I didn't have one in my head at the moment (I know, I know. I'll get one memorized in the next week or two, just to stick in my bag of tricks should the need arise), but if he gave me a few minutes, I could come up with something. He OK'd this, and auditioned another few people while I prepared. I quickly went through the army bag I generally carry with me at all times and found an amusing scene I had done in acting class. I quickly re-familiarized myself with the material, then asked an actress in the waiting room if she'd read it with me (thanks Jenna!). She said yes, Greg called me in, I asked if it was okay that I do a scene instead of a monologue, he was hip to it, and I did it. It wasn't kick-ass but it was pretty good and Greg seemed to like it. Now I gotta wait until next week, probably Monday, to hear if I made it to the next round, which is getting scenes together for the actual Showcase.--
