AUDITION - Malcolm in the Middle

Gwenn, my awesome theatrical agent, just called to let me know she got me an audition for Malcolm in the Middle later today. Yeah, I didn't know that show was still on either. Still, the show was great in its first two seasons but I haven't really kept track of it since. Anyway, this means I'll have to leave work early, and I'm seriously glad to get out of here today as we had an Employee Meeting this morning that was fairly depressing. Watching ever-older and ever-plumper co-workers get called to the front of the Lunch Room to claim their 10-year company wall clock or 15-year world globe was something akin to the short story "The Lottery" or, more recently, the movie "The Island." Not cool. I'm less than a couple years away from getting my 5-year Company Pen-with-clock-built-in or other disposable trinket of appreciation and my blood runs cold just thinking about it. I think I'll jump off the "Y" of the HOLLYWOOD sign if I'm still here to pick up that globe.

my company gave me a lapel pin on my 1 year anniversary. a LAPEL pin!?! WTF? does anyone under the age of 60 know what a lapel is, much less own one? I think not...stupid trinket..i'd rather had 5 bucks on a gift card to target. at least that's something I would use.

re: ruthie
i hear ya ruthie, i have two lapel pins with matching certificates of appreciation. but i'd need the gift cards to be at least $25-$50 before i'd trade 'em in.

I felt the same way working at a restaurant. I literally quit just because I was about to hit 5 years there. I had previously told someone to shoot me if I was still there in 5 years, and I was a litle afraid they would actually take me up on that. Which, had I stayed, may not have been a bad thing.
I feel the booking gods will smile upon you!
