MediocreBowl, SuperParty

My brother-in-law Mike (pictured to the left of me) has an annual Super Bowl party where he has two rooms of TVs with the game on, a bunch of minigames like nerf hoops and blackjack that take place before, during halftime, and after the Bowl, a football pool, a ton of food prepared by my sister Laura, and of course, booze, all designed to make this a fun event for the crowd of family and friends who come every year. This year was especially cool as I won first place in the QB Pass tournament for a little money (er... fake, monopoly-like money. don't wanna break the law or anything) to offset the cost of all the events and pools I entered.

I didn't watch much of the game, pretty much losing interest at the beginning of the first quarter. I was, however, interested in the commercials, as Michael had one for Aleve with Leonard Nimoy (sorry, somehow I missed it Mike), my friend Ryan Bollman appeared in one for GoDaddy.com and my acting teacher Dee had ABC promos running for her upcoming, "unique hybrid comedy series", Sons & Daughters. Sweet.

Friends Fig and Courtney swept in during halftime and picked up 1st and 2nd place in the Blackjack tournament respectively, and Fig took the "1st and 10 Questions Pool" answering 9 out of the 10 questions correctly for $172.40 (of um, fake money, of course), so they totally made out with over $200 collectively. After the game and festivities the three of us went and saw Memoirs of a Geisha which was better than I was expecting. Unfortunately, before the movie we went and got some coffee at Kelly's. My tall, mocha-whatever was supposed to be decaf, and maybe it was, but there was still enough caffeine in there to keep me awake until 4:30 in the morning. Looks like I'll be enjoying another week as part of the living dead.

fig: the only acceptable reason for that would be you buying a DS with mario kart. and nintendogs for c, of course.

lor: welcome! you found me! and yes, 'tis true - you took that pic.
