Seeing what's out there...

For the past couple of weeks I've been interviewing with a few different managers and agents. Although the first two managers I met didn't end in consideration for representation, I gleaned a lot of good information from them. Actually, after all the meetings have been said and done, I've come to realize:

• my current representation doesn't "get" me. probably half my fault, half theirs.
• I need new headshots. And after all the reshoots, money and grief I went through to please my manager with my current ones, it just pisses me off, but, gotta do it.
• I need to find my "look" and figure out how to market myself.

Meetings I had this week with a theatrical agent and a management agency went extremely well. Liked both of them tons. Both seem to have businesses with healthy atmospheres, nurturing their clients with workshops, classes, sports teams and casting director meets. Both are small and/or new, but if nothing better comes along, these two will be the ones I go with.

Showcase outcome

Performed in a Showcase on October 10 and 11 for the Dee Wallace Stone Acting Studio, where I'm currently taking classes. Received really great responses from a few of the managers, casting directors and agents who attended. Got a couple of business cards, got a couple of "Call me"s. Today I got a few calls throughout the day from Dee, letting me know about three different managers who are interested in repping me. The cost and time for doing the showcase was pretty high and the scene I did was kind of a risk so I'm glad to be getting good response.

Might be a conflict in getting a new manager as my current one also reps me as an agent commercially and theatrically. If I get a new one, I'll probably be dropped from all their departments which means having to find new agents.

Not sure what the right thing to do is. I like the management company/agency I'm with but I can't help but think I can do better. They've never gotten me out on any movies and only once have I been up for a TV spot. I can at least take some meetings and see what happens.
